 More than 485,000 Georgia mortgages, or 30.2 percent of all residences with a mortgage, were underwater at the end of 2010, according to CoreLogic a statistical analysis firm.

Another 7.4 percent were nearly negative in equity.

● Georgia homeowners had the fifth highest loan-to-value ratios nationally on
their properties, which stood at 81 percent.
