Gainsville, Georgia is #1 on AARP”s annual list of the top 10 most affordable retirement destinations in the USA. There are 15 golf courses, Lake Lanier and two national forests close by(The Chattahoochee and Oconee national forests).  AARP Magazine says it looked at median home prices, the cost of living, tax rates on pensions/Social Security, health care available, climate and recreation in 350 cities to come up with the most “fabulous lifestyle”  for the over -50’s crowd w/o breaking the bank.
Gainesville is 1 hour’s drive North of Atlanta in Hall County.
